Sugar is a very small, sweet soluble product which is put in a majority of foods that we eat daily. Sugar is found in a plant which is then turned into cane which is then broken down into smaller molecules. There are three different types of sugars: saccharine, fructose, and glucose which makes up the sweet sentimental parts of sugar. Fructose and glucose are scientifically classified as monosacharides. They have the same chemical formula C6H12O6. Their properties are slightly different. Although the formula for both is the same there is a difference in the arrangement of the atoms. Fructose is found in fruits as a component of the 'fruit sugar' called Sucrose. Sucrose is a combination of Fructose and Glucose. Both glucose and fructose do not exist as such separately in natural food, but exist in combination. Glucose is also called dextrose. The glucose we eat when we feel faintness is pure glucose. Both fructose and glucose have a similar sweet taste. Sugar is one of the main ingredients in soft drinks. For example there are forty-two grams of sugar in twenty ounces of coca-cola. That means for every ounce of coke there are about 2 grams of sugar. Sugar is the main soluble ingredient implemented into soda, the sweet taste of soda is a direct result of the excess amounts of sugar. The recommended daily intake for sugar is ten teaspoons per day for a two thousand calorie diet. Sugar should not be consumed in mass amounts because that creates body fat and results in dehydration.
